They say “April showers bring May flowers.” If you were to ask me, however, I would say April showers brings some kick ass looking games! Here are just some of the games that you can look forward to playing this month.
Butcher is a hell of a game that has been out on the PC for about 7 months. It combines everything that gamers have ever loved about Doom and Quake and squished into two dimensions all the while keeping the gore. Butcher sets itself apart from mindless 2D shooters by introducing an elaborate cover system that provides your character with extra added defence when all hell breaks loose. The game is finally making the transition over to consoles.
Butcher will be arriving for both PS4, and Xbox One May 10.
If you have lived in the past few years you have probably heard the hype over VR. We now have the ability to bring games to our living rooms and do it in a fashion that immerses you into the game to a whole different level. Up until this point, most VR games have been more concept and less full on fledged games. That is, until Farpoint was announced. Farpoint is has been coined as the first VR game with a major single player campaign specifically only for VR. Not to discount Resident Evil 7 where you get to experience the whole adventure in VR. You play a man on an alien planet that has to fend against bug like monsters, all the while finding survivors and a way back home. It seems we have finally gotten past the research and development and are well on our ways to making VR becoming the powerhouse that it was intended to be.
Farpoint will be available on PSVR May 16.
3: Injustice 2
NetherRealm is finally bringing another entry into the Injustice series, and it looks amazing! If you were a fan of the first game and its plethora of characters you will not be disappointed by the latest entries in the sequel. With names like; Atrocitus, Dr Fate, Black Canary and even Darkseid. That is just to name a few of the brand new characters in the game. Players will be able to once again pit themselves against each other in local or online multiplayer, with the extra added benefit of being able to outfit your fighters with an RPG style customization system.
Injustice 2 has been confirmed to be released on PS4, and Xbox One May 16
2: Minecraft: Switch Edition
Oh hey, Minecraft… On the Nintendo Switch… May 11
In what is being called the spiritual successor to System Shock (a statement that I agree with), Prey is an up and coming shooter that is a re-imagining of the 2006 Prey. This time around the game has been developed by Arkane Studios (of Dishonored fame) and published by Bethesda Softworks. After the original Prey fell into development hell with its sequel the transition over to Arkane seems to be a very exciting one. From what has been seen, Prey is a very polished and impressive looking game that has one hell of a team behind it.
Prey will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC May 5
