During 2017, how many times did you see a game and think “I want it”. I can’t keep count of how many times I did! With games that have been released recently such as : Yakuza 0, Resident Evil VII, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild and more. That’s only during the first couple months of the year, It’s almost overwhelming!
While there were good games on console during 2016, they were still few and far in-between. The only time I remember something similar happening, was during May when Uncharted 4 and Doom released three days apart (I know of November’s status as a heavy FPS release period but frankly, shooters don’t interest me). With so many games coming on consoles one by one in rapid secession, I honestly can’t keep up. This is especially the case with Nintendo, as it has recently launching the Switch globally, allowing the potential for more great games to come out expand. One customer can only purchase so many games…
What the future holds
What’s exciting is that more great games are currently being developed, or are close to being released to the west (At the time of writing, there are only a few days left until Persona 5 releases).
Nintendo has even revealed a new Fire Emblem game – Echoes: Shadow of Valentia for the 3DS, which was first shown on January 18th, at the Nintendo Direct Event. The game is apparently a remake of the second Fire Emblem game that was not available in the west (still is, but there are fan translations available if you are impatient, or just cannot afford the handheld system).
The new Shin Megami Tensai game and the sequel to Xenoblade: Chronicles are looking great. That is especially the case for me as I recently tried out Shin Megami Tensai 4: Apocalypse, and the first entry in the Xenoblade series. While I have not finished them, I liked every second of what I’ve experienced.
There are also a ton of games such as Super Mario Odyssey, Tekken 7, Yooka-Laylee, Splatoon 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 releasing this year… Like I said, so many games to come! While I am excited for all these titles coming out, I’m also somewhat intimidated. These games are eating my wallet whole!
What do you think, were you disappointed with the games out now, or excited as I am? Keep you comments below. We are still new, so we’d appreciate your feedback!
